The NRC has long been concerned about the effects of light pollution on our health, safety, environment and wildlife. As Wellesley prepares to replace 3,000 neighborhood streetlights with cost effective and energy saving LED (light emitting diode) fixtures, we hope to ensure that these new fixtures are as environmentally friendly as possible, maintain safety standards and improve the character of the town.
Currently the Municipal Light Plant (MLP) is piloting two different LED streetlights on Croton and Pine Streets and is asking for public input. We encourage residents to visit these streets at night to view the lights and fill out the MLP survey by Friday, October 13 to give your feedback.
