The Wellesley Police Department, in conjunction with the FBI's Violent Crime Task Force, NORPAC Task Force, and area police agencies, are seeking a bank robbery suspect.  This suspect has robbed the Bank of America at 324 Washington Street twice, in April and May.  The suspect has also been linked by the FBI to 5 other bank robberies in the area. These violent bank robberies have occurred in Dedham, Newton, Needham, and the most recent, in Walpole.

Bank Robbery Suspect at 324 Washington Street

The FBI has named this suspect the "U-30" bandit, as he typically is inside a bank for under 30 seconds.  Deputy Chief of Police Brooks notes that the level of violence in each robbery seems to be increasing.  In one case, the suspect jumped up on the counter, waving his firearm around.  In another case, the suspect actually fired the weapon that he was holding during the bank robbery.  Deputy Chief Brooks indicated that the potential for a member of the public or a bank employee to be hurt is very high. The Wellesley Police Department and the FBI believe that there is a second suspect involved in these robberies as well.

The FBI is offering $37,500 reward for the arrest of this suspect.  Please call 617-742-5533 with any information regarding these incidents.
